Regulatory Services

Regulatory Services is the regulatory arm of the Mineral Resources Authority. It is responsible for delivery of the functions under the Mineral Resources Authority Act 2018 for managing and administering the relevant mining industry legislations. These legislations include the Mining Act 1992, the Mining (Safety)Act 1977, the Mining (Bougainville Copper Agreement) Act 1967 and the various OK Tedi Acts.

It is also responsible, through the Small Scale Mining Branch based in Wau, Morob Province, for the promotion and development of the alluvial (artisanal) mining sector in PNG.

Regulatory Services is headed by an executive manager whose role is to ensure the division provides efficient and effective service to its clients.
