Papua New Guineais a country with huge potential for significant discoveries as evidenced by world-class mines like Panguna, Lihir, Ok Tedi, Porgera, and more recently the upcoming Wafi Golpu and the Frieda River projects including a host of small to medium scale projects.
In particular, I would like to acknowledge the K92 Mining Limited of the Kainantu project that
won the Thayer Lindsley Award in 2021 for the best global discovery during the height of the
COVID-19 pandemic. The Kainantu project is still going strong and will soon be a large-scale SML project.
