1.2 - National Geochemical Sampling Program
The National Geochemical Sampling Program is being conducted in collaboration with China Geological Survey’s (CGS) Nanjing Institute for Geology and Mineral Resources, and is aimed at producing multi-element metallogenic maps for the country. Sampling, data analysis and reporting will conform to International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) standards, and is an improvement of the existing Surface and Drill hole Geological and Geochemical Data Capture, produced under World Bank TAI and TAII funding.
An example of the MRA/CGS collaboration is the Kainantu 1:100 000 geochemical mapping program.
Multi element grids are produced to show location relative distribution of element throughout the area. Images below show concentrations of mineral elements over the Eastern Papuan Peninsula.
